Our inaugural author will be Wayne-Daniel Berard PhD. He's written many books including, poetry, mysteries, and even divine feminine books. Wayne-Danial was a professor at a local college for over 35 years. Now he has more time to dedicate to his passion of writing and aren't we lucky to be able to benefit from this! Here's a little about his chosen book for the day and himself;

Art of Enlightenment

What is so extraordinary about Art of Enlightenment is Wayne-Daniel Berard’s artistry. In carefully crafted poems, he delivers emotional punches via surprising language and imagery. Whether he is writing about his adoptive mother’s death, his adoptive father’s dementia, or relationships with his children, step-children, and wife, Berard leaves us breathless.

For example, “Praying for my Mother,” ends: I pray that she will stay/not one more moment from/her great, re-mothering birth. In “Daniel,” the poet claims he doesn’t have a new stepson, but a bonus son/the prize I never quite/expected. And in “Christine in my Crisis,” he asserts  ... I breathe/because of you my constant/occasion the o in each hello.

Wayne-Daniel Berard PhD

Educator, poet, writer, shaman, and sage. An adoptee and former Franciscan seminarian, his adoption search led to the discovery and embrace of his Jewishness. Wayne-Daniel is a Peace Chaplain, an interfaith clergy person. His chapbook, The Man Who Remembered Heaven, won the New Eden Award in 2003. He publishes broadly in poetry, fiction, and non-fiction, including When Christians Were Jews (That Is Now), subtitled Recovering the Lost Jewishness of Christianity with the Gospel of Mark (Cowley Publications, 2006), a novel, The Retreatants (Smashwords, 2012), a chapbook, Christine Day, Love Poems(Kittacuck Press 2016), and a novella, Everything We Want (Bloodstone Press, 2018).  

His latest published full-length works are in poetry, The Realm of Blessing, with Unsolicited Press, and Art of Enlightenment with Kelsay books, in mystery fiction, Noa(h) and the Bark, in short fiction The Lives and Spiritual Time of C.I. Abramovich, a novella, Fall of the Medes, and in the mixed genre, Shekinah Paramour: The Goddess for Men, all with Alien Buddha Press. He is the co-founding editor of Soul-Lit, an online journal of spiritual poetry (www.soul-lit.com). Wayne-Daniel lives in Mansfield, MA with his wife, The Lovely Christine.
